Inspiring minds and encouraging hearts one child at a time.

We provide financial assistance for families with children under the age of 21 who are seeking support with adaptive equipment, travel, therapy and other items that are not (fully) covered by insurance or other organizations.

Winter Coat Gifting Program

Lori’s Voice is partnering with Koolway Sports to provide custom adaptive winter coats to five qualifying families in Michigan at no cost to the families. Lori’s Voice will cover the full cost of these specialized coats. Selected families will be notified in early August and will work directly with Koolway Sports to submit the necessary information and measurements for proper fitting. Once received, production of the custom coats will take approximately 8 to 12 weeks.

Helping children live a less restrictive life and flourish with endless possibilities

Lori’s Voice is a non-profit organization founded and established to help young people with disabilities. This organization evolved from Lori Hastings’ great love for children and the realization of so many challenges young people face when living with a disability.
A glimpse into the heart of our organization. Driven by love, compassion and empathy. Fueled by the generous support of our community.

Success Stories

Thank you so much for the Free Wheel! After a long Covid wait, April got the Free Wheel and loves it! She is so excited to get out on the nature trails w/ her RC buddies and race the trails! Also looking forward to warmer days to get outside on the grass to play. Thanks to Lori's Voice & her new Free Wheel.

Thank you so very much for helping us pay for the parts not covered by insurance for Lucas' medical stroller. The canopy keeps out the rain/snow/sun and the basket underneath helps us stow jackets & water bottles. ♡ Thanks also for the Meijer gift card! We are so thankful for all that you do.

Here is a picture of the generator that Lori's Voice financially helped us get! No more wondering if we will have the power back on to recharge Ben's power wheelchair, have his internal feeds or use the ceiling lift to help lift him! Thank you!

We just want to thank you for all of your generosity to help with our little girl! You have no idea how grateful we are. To get to send our daughter to The Conductive Learning Center and get her the help she needs is priceless. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts!

Words cannot express how deeply grateful we are for your generosity. Thanks to all of you, Hunter has a communication device!!! He has discovered how to use it and greatly expanded his vocabulary! It has also helped to decrease frustration and outbursts because he is now better understood by others. He continues to receive weekly therapy and they have also been working with him on use of the talker! It has greatly improved Hunter's quality of life and I cannot say thank you enough!

Thank you for supporting our son Andrew in attending his 2nd DMI intensive therapy session. The therapy is so beneficial & Andrew gains strength & skills every time! The therapy is not covered by insurance which leaves the cost as a barrier for many deserving children. We are so thankful you choose to help us make this therapy possible for our son!

Thank you seems so insignificant for the amazing gift toward an accessible van for Nick! It has been a very long process to get to the point where this van is here -- What RELIEF it brings! I have been so blessed to witness amazing community through this process. Every time I get in the van, it almost feels as if I am receiving this huge hug from so many people. While I wouldn't wish the journey of Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy on anyone, the support and love I have found for my son and our family as a whole, is nothing short of amazing! Thank you for being a huge part of this! Thank you for the amazing work you do to support our family AND so many others!

Donor Stories

Volunteering for Lori's Voice has impacted me and my family in so many ways. You are able to see how blessed you are with healthy children. You better understand the needs of those that have children with disabilities and how Lori's Voice makes a tremendous impact in their lives. You are able to give back and help families and children that are struggling. The best benefits are to see the smiles on the children and parent's faces. Lori's Voice does so much behind the scenes to change the lives of those that have been impacted with life's challenges. You should consider volunteering it will change your life and Lori's Voice is a great organization to volunteer for.

Lisa Potts; DONOR & VOLUNTEER

The West Michigan Mustang Club donates to Lori's Voice because they do such wonderful things for children in need.  One of our own members has a granddaughter who has benefitted from them with a wheelchair and a bike.

The beach wheelchairs they provide at the beach of Lake Michigan are marvelous.

It opens a whole new world to children who otherwise couldn't get through the sand to touch their toes in the Lake.  Thank you.

Gary Marble and The West Michigan Mustang Club; DONOR

I have known Lori all her life. She is a very special lady!!  Her mission to help the families with children with disabilities and the fact that everything donated goes directly to them is amazing.  All the wonderful people who volunteer are so generous and do such a great job helping to keep Lori’s Voice such an active charity.

I love Lori and Dave.  Keep up the good work ❤️

In my past "reporter" days, I would see first-hand the genuine joy on the faces of the recipients of your gifts.  And that joy resonated through their entire family.  As a spectator, I couldn't help but to feel that happiness, myself.

Then I became a volunteer for the Lori's Voice Walks and that happiness multiplied ten-fold. To see so many walkers on the Berlin Raceway track making each curve, I felt that I was a small part of something much bigger than myself. I was excited to be a part of this fundraiser. (Especially when I saw so many of Lori's Voice children that had been helped in the past, taking the track with us able-bodied.)

Last, but definitely NOT the least reason is: To know Lori and Dave Hastings; is to love them.  And who cannot help those we love!?!

Kerri Snowdin- VOLUNTEER

Volunteering for any cause you believe in is probably the most gratifying thing a person can do.  We are put here on earth to be of service to others and I thank Lori's Voice every day to make that mission so easy for me.

Every time I talk with a family regarding their needs, I go back in time and remember how hard it was realizing I had a special needs daughter and I couldn't purchase what I needed to keep her safe.

How about this one....... I have enjoyed working with Lori's Voice families, and the other volunteers and look forward to assisting these families for many years to come.

I find volunteering for Lori's Voice to be as refreshing as a cold beer on a hot day.   No???

We admire the mission of helping physically challenged youngsters and also admire the integrity and dedication of the organization and founders.

Chris and Deb Brechting- DONOR

My 1st experience in volunteering for Lori’s Voice was a positive one for sure.  Met and maintained some nice friendships. I wish I could do more for the organization.

The impact it has is lifelong.  I believe helping others is what we are called to do.

Paula Sund-VOLUNTEER

I had the privilege of working with Dave and Lori in their passion to establish Lori's Voice.  I loved working with them through the long process of legalities and structuring the non-profit to benefit the needs of some very special children.  I won't forget the happy faces when a child is able to use a special computer, adaptive or sports equipment, or chair to help them mainstream into their peer group or school.

Marj Williams-PREVIOUS BOD MEMBER AND VOLUNTEER

Hi Lori, for me it's quite simple: you and Dave are living, breathing witnesses to the grace and mercy of our Savior, Jesus the Lord! Your ministry is a modern-day miracle!

Dennis Zimmer-DONOR

Lori is my inspiration. She is the foundation and a hero to me.  As a classmate she is the one person from our graduating class that to me has done more for people than anyone else.  She shares her ideals and her heart to everyone she meets, helping others who like her have difficulties in life.

 Terrie Graftema-VOLUNTEER

Volunteering for Lori's Voice has allowed us the opportunity to give back. We couldn't be more grateful for the help they gave to us in the need for a van for our son.

Christina and David Dehen- VOLUNTEER

I have been a supporter of Lori's Voice from the start. (our very first walkathon was at St. Mary’s church). Looking back, I cannot believe how much our community support has grown. Walks at Marne Raceway, Dances, raffles, golf outings, etc. It seems our local and not-so-local community has stepped up time and time again.

I greatly appreciate how the focus has always been kept on the kids and families they serve: Lori and Dave are excellent stewards of the blessings given and make sure at every turn that money is not wasted on any items or services that can be donated or done at cost. The events are well thought out and organized, and I appreciate the time afterwards when we could debrief and talk about what went well and how we could improve.

I consider it a privilege to volunteer for Lori's Voice and plan to continue!
