CAR CARES Campaign
Help Lori's Voice give an accessible vehicle to a Michigan family in 2027
CAR CARES 2026 chose Lori’s Voice
The Commercial Alliance of Realtors (CAR) chose Lori’s Voice as the recipient of its 2026 CAR CARES Campaign. Every gift to the campaign goes to our 2027 Accessible Vehicle Giveaway in May 2027.
Why an accessible vehicle matters
For a family raising a child with significant mobility needs, an accessible vehicle is how the child gets to school, medical appointments and therapy, and out into the world with the rest of the family.
A new accessible vehicle costs $70,000 to $95,000. Most families can’t pay that. Without one, even routine trips get harder, more tiring and more expensive.
What Lori’s Voice has done so far
- Since 2021, we have given 11 accessible vehicles to Michigan families.
- In 2026 we held our first double giveaway and gave two vehicles to two local families. 221 families applied.
- In 2026 we also helped 28 families with a down payment on an accessible vehicle, an average of $8,000 per family.
Reaching the $50,000 goal would cover more than half the cost of a new accessible vehicle.
About Lori’s Voice
Lori and Dave Hastings founded Lori’s Voice to pay for the equipment, therapies and services that insurance doesn’t cover for children with disabilities. Lori was diagnosed with muscular dystrophy as a teenager and knows what those costs do to a family.
Lori’s Voice has served more than 900 Michigan children and granted nearly $4 million. Our grants have paid for wheelchair ramps, stair lifts, ceiling tracks and hoists, adaptive bikes, safety sleeper beds, therapies and accessible transportation.
Thank you, CAR members
Thank you to the Commercial Alliance of Realtors and every CAR member who gives. You’re helping a Michigan family travel safely, get to the care their child needs and take part in their community.
