Additional Information when Applying for Assistance

Qualifications and Application Process

Our mission is to help children with special needs by providing financial assistance for adaptive equipment, therapy, travel, and other essential needs that families can’t afford and insurance doesn’t cover.

Qualifications requirements:

  • Individuals up to 21 years old
  • Diagnosed with a neuromuscular or neuro-degenerative disorder with physical mobility limitations
  • Have a financial need
  • Must be a Michigan resident

We require families to actively fundraise to cover the majority of the costs and seek assistance from a variety of charities and governmental agencies. Vehicle assistance is limited specific counties in Michigan.

Once the application is complete,  it will be assigned to a Lori’s Voice team member who will evaluate the child’s diagnosis and the family’s need for financial support. Additional information and documentation may be required. All information will be sent to the Board for determination. Recommendations to other resources may be suggested if necessary.

Please note: We can not provide recommendations for vendors or assist in negotiating purchases.

Due to overwhelming demand and limited resources, Lori’s Voice is only able to accepts vehicle grant requests from counties listed here. All other Lori’s Voice grants for medical equipment are available throughout Michigan. We will continue to evaluate this vehicle assistance program and hope to expand it statewide as additional resources and funding become available.
